This free hat pattern for the knifty knitter loom requires 1-2 hours.
Skill Level: Easy
You will need:
*a crochet hook
*a skein of medium weight yarn
*knifty knitter hook
*a round knifty knitter loom (Yellow = XL adult hat, Green = regular adult hat,
Red = child's hat, Blue = baby hat)
Instructions
EWrap Knifty Knitter Loom
E-Wrap the round Knifty Knitter loom 2 times. After
wrapping the loom the first time, push the loops down to make it easier to
wrap the loom the second time. A mistake that beginners often make when
wrapping the loom, is to wrap too tightly. Leave plenty of slack in the yarn
as the loom is wrapped. Yarns with a bit of stretch to them work best for
loom knitting.
Knit off by using the Knifty Knitter hook to lift the
bottom loop over the top loop and off the loom.
E-wrap the loom and knit off 2 more times.
Do not E-Wrap the loom. This step begins with only one
loop on each peg. Take the loop off the first peg and place it on the second
peg. This leaves peg one empty and peg two with two loops. Repeat by
removing the loop from peg three and placing it on peg four. Continue this
pattern around the Knifty Knitter loom. When finished, go back around the
loom and knit off on each peg that has two loops, lifting the bottom loop
over the top loop. This leaves every other peg on the Knifty Knitter loom
with a loop.
E-Wrap the Knifty Knitter loom creating a loop on each
peg.
Make Hat Knifty Knitter
Pattern
Knit off the pegs that have 2 loops. When finished each
peg should be wrapped one time.
E-Wrap all the pegs on the loom. Knit off. Repeat this
step three times.
Repeat steps 4 through 7, the second time through repeat
step 7 four times.
Repeat steps 4 through 7, the third time through repeat
step 7 five times.
Keep repeating the steps until the hat reaches the
desired length. For an adult hat, this will need to be repeated
approximately 6 times. For a baby hat it will need to be repeated
approximately 3 times.
Removing the Loops from the Knifty Knitter Loom
To remove the hat from the knifty knitter loom, cut the
yarn approximately 1 foot from the loom. Thread the yarn through a yarn
needle. Using the yarn needle thread the yarn through each loop and remove
it from the peg.
