Easy Slipper Pattern
Slipper Socks Are Easy to Crochet for All Members of the Family
There are hundreds of crochet slipper patterns
and I've probably tried half of them. I prefer to crochet
items that are rectangular and don't require uch counting, or increasing and
decreasing and since I haven't found a slipper pattern to meet my simple needs,
I decided to make my own.
I think this slipper sock pattern is suited for two coordinating colors of yarn,
but you could of course use a single color of your choice. It is crocheted as a
rectangle, pulled together at one end and then laced up like a shoe.
This crochet slipper pattern is made with standard
4-ply worsted weight yarn. The pattern as written should result in a slipper
sock that will fit most women with a snug fit that will go slightly higher than
the ankle. It could be easily adapted for men or children. They would make warm
and welcome gifts for your local VA hospital or nursing home. Since it is laced
up and not stitched, it would make a useful gift for someone in a cast or whose
foot is wrapped in bandages; simply add a few extra rows of the pattern stitch
to make it wide enough.
This pattern is provided free and may not be sold. You may sell the items you
make, but you may not sell the pattern. Photos of the slippers are at the bottom
of this page.

Easy Slipper Sock Pattern to Crochet
With color A and size I crochet hook, ch 39
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, SC across in BLO. Ch 2, turn
Row 2: Sk 1st st, HDC in next 2 st, *ch 1, sk 1 st, HDC in next 2 st*,
repeat from * to * to end of row, ch 1, turn
Row 3: Sc in each HDC and ch 1 sp to end of row. If changing colors,
attach Color B, ch 2, turn.
Row 4 - 20: With color B, HDC in 2d stitch and each st across to end of
row, ch 2, turn. At end of row 20, attach color A, ch 1, turn
Row 21: With color A, SC in first st and across to end of row, ch 2, turn
Row 22: Sk 1st st, HDC in next 2 st, *ch 1, sk 1 st, HDC in next 2 st*,
repeat from * to *to end of row, ch 1, turn
Row 23: SC in each HDC and ch 1 sp to end of row. Leaving tail of several
inches, cut yarn and pull through last stitch to bind off.
Feed tail of yarn into yarn needle and weave back and forth through every few
stitches near top of shorter end of rectangle. Pull taught and stitch securely
to the starting point, making the toe area of the slipper sock. Bind off and
weave in ends.
With yarn color of your choice, crochet a ch to
measure approx 64" and tie off. Starting at toe end of slipper sock, weave the
ch loosely through the small holes made by the ch 1 sp in pattern, like you
would lace up a shoe.
